This is a wonderful heirloom variety to try out in your garden. Over 150 years-old, Madame Calot has a lovely fragrance, and creamy, rose pink flowers with slightly darker centres and crimson splashes. It is treasured as a cutting flower for its many, high quality, relatively early blooms and its long strong stems. As with many of the old French varieties, you will see that the flowers become larger and more spectacular as your plant matures. Will need some support when in bloom. (Miellez, France, 1856).
