Pietertje Vriend Wagenaar
Herbaceous, Pink, Double, Late- Midseason, Fragrant, Award Winner 33”
This good-looking peony has just been awarded the American Peony Society's 2018 Gold Medal and has also been chosen as their 2019 Peony of the Year! It has red buds which open to strong pink double flowers with really interesting and unusual speckled petals. This lovely plant is presumed to be a cross between the ever-popular Sarah Bernhardt and the award-winning Kansas. Sturdy stems, attractive foliage and fabulous, fragrant flowers make this a favourite for cutting and in the garden. And it will stand up on its own without support. Named for the breeder’s mother. American Peony Society Gold Medal 2018, APS Peony of the Year 2019. (Nicholas J. Friend, USA, 1996).
